The VH Collaborative Story Contest!

We all know just how talented and imaginative the minds of our players are, so we thought it would be fun to see all of those MANY minds out there come together from across the servers to create the ultimate community Christmas story!

For this contest, we are asking players to write a collaborative holiday story, by contributing 1 - 2 sentences to it, post by post. Each server will be assigned a specific color. Players will then post their individual entries in their assigned server color.

The Server Colors are:

• US1 = Blue
• US2 = Red
• US3 = Green
• EU1 = Purple
• EU2 = Orange

The Rules

• Players must post their story contributions in their assigned server color. This is essential.
• You may only write one sentence or two sentences, per entry. You may not write more than two sentences in an entry.
• There is no limit to the number of entries a player can submit.
• For obvious reasons, this will be a Forums-only contest. It will not be available on Discord, so all entries must be posted here on this forum thread.
• For the sake of clarity and consistency, we are asking that all entries be posted in ENGLISH. So please use a translation program if English is not your primary language.
• If 8 different players from a server submit 8 entries, then every player on the server will receive a special gift.
• If 15 different players from a server submit 15 entries, then every player on the server will receive two special gifts.
• Individuals may submit as many entries as they like, however, only one entry will go towards the server gifts.
• Individual prizes will also be awarded to our favorite contributions to the story!
  • First Place Winner = 200 crowns + A Holiday Surprise Package
  • Second Place Winner = 150 crowns + A Holiday Surprise Package
  • Third Place Winner = 100 crowns + A Holiday Surprise Package
• This contest will close on Thursday, December 22nd.

After the contest has closed, and winners announced, we will write up the entire story for all to enjoy. (And we know it’s going to be a GREAT story!) Good luck, and have fun with this! We can’t wait to read the wonderful story that our community writes together!

The VH Collaborative Holiday Story

Petunia, a lonely Bog Frog who was often mocked for her strange fascination with humans, especially their yearly penchant for lighting up giant trees with twinkling lights and showering each other with odd shaped boxes wrapped in colorful paper, wished with her whole fishy heart that someday she could leave her dreary pond and spend Christmas among the smiling people in Ardent City. One afternoon, while swimming sadly around in circles by herself, she saw something peculiar in the water which frightened her, but also intrigued her.

She dove down into the pool and found a shiny monocle. She rinsed the mud off the monocle and held it over her eye and the squealed with delight.

 

[Panthera]

For it was a magical monocle that gave the wearer their deepest hearts desire.

 

[Weninya]

petunia reached out with her little bogfrog hands to touch it, hold it... But as she approached, it flittered, flickered and zoomed away!

 

[Tiggery]

Why it wasn’t a monocle at all but a frightened fairy! “Beautiful little fairy,” Petunia said, “why were you in my bog?”

 

[Bluerider]

"I'm looking for tinsel to put on the christmas tree", the fairy replied.

'What is Tinsel?' The little bog frog asked curiously

 

[Bluerider]

Tinsel is like me - bright and shiny and light as feathers - but made of one the rarest metall in the world: Tin!

 

[Spinifex]

This metal can only be extracted from a single mine, by miners who find maybe 2 or 3 grams of this rare metal in their lifetime. They must never, under any circumstances, speak of how and at what cost they snatch the precious ore from the earth.

 

[Landenen]

But Why were you looking for this rare, glorious metal in my bog? Surely, would be more prudent to ask the Dwarves in their mighty strongholds in the mountains.

 

[Hippolyta]

"Well, truth be told, I'm such a small fairy and the mountains are so terribly far from my home that the thought of leaving on such a journey frightened me. I thought surely I could find something here in the bog."

 

[Meagan]

"I don't think I have anything that can help, but my gradfather, Leander, has an old thimble." said Petunia, pointing somewhere behind her in the bog.

 

[Cad Bane]

"Of course!" said the fairy. "If your grandfather doesn't mind parting with it, a thimble would be very beneficial for my journey, please lead the way!"

 

[Gaia's Executioner]

The sun set below the horizon as Petunia led the fairy deeper into the bog. As the sun set, the fireflies took flight, lighting up the bog with their magical twinkling.

 

[Cloudlight]

Across the bog a group of fairies looked up into the sky and saw what appeared to be thousands of brand new stars lighting up the entire area. The fireflies shimmered and sparkled and danced to the magical symphony of the sound of crickets calling in the distance.

As Petunia and the fairy crossed the oak-tinder bridge to her grandfather’s hut, they encountered a walking, clattering skeleton. When the fairy squeaked in surprise, Petunia said, “Please don’t be frightened of Mo, my best friend in the world!””

 

[HeatherBloom]

As they passed Mo, Petunia explained to the fairy that she had found mo clutching one of the shiny boxes with a name on it, but couldn’t read it. The fairy went to the tag and gasped! It was written in magic for a special recipient!

Petunia looked at the fairy and said "this is turning into quite the quest. First we need to see my grandfather for the thimble, then we must find a way to get this box to whom it belongs"

 

[Jytal]

“Then let us make haste! I have an idea!”, the fairy said. The fairy twirled and spewed magical glitter all around and summoned beautiful baby reindeer dragons to pull their Ancient Sleigh.
