He’s baaaack! You know him, you love him, some of you have occasionally wanted to throttle him, that’s right, the always inept, terribly unlucky little soldier, Private Otter, has returned just in time for Halloween, and has once again landed himself in a bit of a mess. Poor little Private Otter believes himself to be a member of the ghoulish and macabre clan, the Addams Family! Heroes are needed to get him back to the Haunted Moors and destroy the villain who has targeted the family, and set a wicked plan into motion!
The Saving Private Addams Event will be on the following dates and times:

Saving Private Addams Event Registration

Wanting to visit their old friends, Druda and Pumpkin Head, the Addams Family were vacationing in the Seven Realms this year, when a villain known only as Witchy Witch kidnapped one of their kin – the sweet ghoulish little creature with the body of a hand named Thing. But just as she was performing the spell upon Thing, Private Otter, who had once again gotten lost and was wandering around looking for his platoon, stumbled upon Witchy Witch. Part of her spell hit him in the head, and now he’s convinced that he’s one of the Addams Family! Thing has vanished, and so has Witchy Witch.
But in her haste to flee the scene, unbeknownst to Witchy Witch, a scrap of paper fell out of her pocket. It is the recipe for the spell needed to recover Thing, and mentions also a potion greatly feared by Witchy Witch called an Acidic Identity Revealer. It is her weakness!
Our level 12 Private Otter, now Private Addams, needs teams to come to his aid! Teams must:
- Raise him 2 levels, so that he is Level 14
- Ensure that he collects all of the items on the recipe list needed to recover Thing. (Some of the items can only be gained through answering riddles.)
- Run through four zones. Teams will be assigned a region (Southern, Central, or Northern), and can pick their route of four zones from their assigned region.
- Locate an Acidic Identity Revealer
- Complete the final tasks within the Haunted Moors
- Locate Witchy Witch, and douse her with the Acidic Identity Revealer, which will expose her true self and vanquish her for good! (Just who is this masked villain???)
The Rules
- Teams will be assigned ahead of time. Since this event has a limited capacity for participants (45 people max), players must register for it in advance. We will post the teams prior to each server’s event, so that all participants can help speed up the formation process at the start in the pool room of Ardent Castle. Additionally, all registered participants will be sent in-game emails prior to the start of the event, letting them know which teams they are on.
- Private Otter will accept no buffs or boosts
- Private Otter must collect all of the items himself, and will accept nothing given to him. All items will go in his bag (or on his person), and he will take a screenshot at the end of the event, as proof that all items have been collected.
- Some items, as explained in the spell recipe to restore Thing, will be given to a designated team member. This team member must give them to Witchy Witch.
- Private Otter does not have a mount. Teams MUST stay together. (So no mounts allowed.)
- Private Otter has
- 1 Voltan Resurrect that he may use.
- Two telepads open: Ardent Castle and Ardent City.
- A Gathering level of 20
- A Smithing level of 12
- Level 1 Gathering tools - so looking for Plentiful Nodes will not help!
- Private Otter may NOT teleport directly to the Haunted Moors, but may teleport to Ardent City once the assigned tasks for the first portion of the event have been completed, then enter the Moors from there.
- This is a race between teams, and the clock is ticking! The first three teams to complete all of the objectives will be deemed the winners. In the event of a tie, the Private Otter with the most xp will be counted as the winner.

- First Place Team: 200 Crowns + A ‘Thing’ Surprise Package
- Second Place Team: 150 Crowns + A ‘Thing’ Surprise Package
- Third Place Team: 100 Crowns + A ‘Thing’ Surprise Package
- All participants will receive special participation prizes
Volunteers Needed to play Private Otters!
We are currently seeking volunteers to play Private Otters on all of the servers. Role playing individuals with a love for theatrics are wanted! (Each Private Otter is a different character from the Addams Family.) If you are interested, please contact a member of the Event Committee on your server.
Attention US1 Players:
Given the volume and complexity of this event, it is not possible for us to provide separate translations of it in Portuguese and Spanish. So please be aware of that ahead of time. However, in the past, we have always found that this has not been an issue for this event, so in no way should it stop you from registering! Additionally, the on-line form has questions pertaining to language which will assist us in forming the teams, and help to bridge communication gaps.

I'm not sure when they go out, but whether you get one or not, Sarah said do show up because there may be open spots when people who did sign up don't show.
