Please meet Spriggy! She’s cute and festive, and will faithfully accompany you around on all of your adventures throughout the Seven Realms, an ever loyal and cheerful companion to have at your side within the game.
But wait.
There’s a whole lot more to Spriggy than meets the eye! Spriggy is a charity pet. What does that mean? Simple. Half of Mad Otter’s net proceeds from the purchase of Spriggy will be donated to an outstanding non-profit organization called Books For Africa.
Your contributions will help put text books into the hands of children who truly need them. Literacy is one of the greatest tools we possess, and its power can never be underestimated. Too often, I think, we sometimes take it for granted, and we should not. Literacy can change lives. And this holiday season in Villagers & Heroes, with your help, we’d like to try to help do just that.
What is Books For Africa?
“A simple name for an organization with a simple mission: to end the book famine in Africa. We collect, sort, ship, and distribute books to African students of all ages. With your help, we will help create a culture of literacy and provide the tools of empowerment to the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders in Africa.
Books For Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 42 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988. In fiscal year 2018 alone, Books For Africa shipped 2.3 million books, and 123 computers and e-readers containing 283,000 digital books, to 29 African countries. Spriggy costs 150 crowns, and will be available in the Item Shop until the event zone leaves in January. Half of Mad Otter’s net proceeds from Spriggy will be donated to Books For Africa.
