So here’s the thing I want to help people with raids but I don’t want to carry them a lot of people don’t seam to be able to gauge where they are correctly when it comes to raids and I want to put this info out there to help people correctly identify how they need to progress and what they need to do to continue there progression.
for starters I don’t want to help anyone who refuses to help themselves so you have to lay some groundwork. progression in raids boils down to 2 things: wins at each tier (bronze,silver,gold,platinum,heroic) and dungeonering lvl (D.lvl)
so to start off with a D.lvl 19 or lower you absolutely need to be doing bronze lvl raids even if you have earned your 5 wins already this is because after this lvl experience will decrease so even if your a badass you should take advantage of this so you don’t have to grind twice as many raids on a much higher tier later. Also I want to add you need to use bronze to get to know the raids so solo is best but as long as you are positive you know the raids back to front then you can play in groups but asking for “boosts“ at this point is just gonna make me angry
so from D.lvl 19-29 you need to be on silver starting with the ones you found easiest at bronze if you struggle before D.lvl 25 it’s no big deal just grind what you can and work on those silver wins, if you still can’t beat a raid or several after you got D.lvl 25 then is the time to call in back up. Once again don’t rush to gold before getting to D.lvl 29 if you have finished your silver wins you still need D.lvl29 before moving on, same goes for if you get D.lvl 29 and you still need wins.
same deal at gold but now we are talking about hard raids as long as your silver are all done and you have a D.lvl of 29-39 then you now need gold raids start form easy ones but don’t expect to dominate these raids you might have to lose for a bit just try to get kills to boost your D.lvl. Once it’s 35+ get any help you need to complete the gold tier. Expect to run in smaller groups as there is less margin for error in these runs even strong players will struggle to compensate for those simply not ready to be here.
so all your gold raids done? D.lvl 39+? great but this is platinum and here if you can’t hack it yet no one can help you this is the point where you should only continue if you have a strong build otherwise you might just be dragging others down. I couldn’t do platinum during my first serious raid season and that’s ok because you have plenty of time to keep working and get stronger. Rome wasn’t built in a day
roles in raids:
so most people know there are 3 basic roles tanks , healers and dps this is true to any/all group content but in addition most players are skewed towards either offence or defence. this may influence how you might want to progress in raids.
universalists (well rounded toons) are generally good if you want to solo these are offensive tanks/healers and defensive dps. Wile they get the best results solo they also make solid additions to group content especially when there are difficult to avoid effects like big aoe bosses.
specialists (focused toons) need groups to be able to preform at peak potential and can’t do as well solo in these cases you will need to switch to doing group raids sooner than universalists but of course when conditions are ideal they will do much better than a universalists ever could. Defensive specialist are slow (def tank/healer) so need to team with offensive specialists (offensive dps) and vice versa generally in a 1:2 ratio def to off. so a 3 man should be 2 dps one healer or tank, 6 man should be any combo of 2 tanks/healers (one of each works best) and 4 dps and finally a 15 man should have up to 5 defensive players (best combo is 2 tanks 3 healers) in a group this size fewer can maybe do ok as long as they are good but this is what is needed to ensure a safe run.
