we did Prism yesterday with collective death, lol, but today with a smaller number of players and organized attack it was great

I have not had aggro and have died each time I have fought Prisma after the update. Previously, I could stand back and shoot off my fire wizard spells and not take any damage. Now, I will go a while without damage and all of a sudden she will knock me down to 50% health and then a second or two later, dead. Luckily I was able to run back and hit her once before she died so I could get credit. However, there have been more times than not where she kills me without enough time to run back. So, even though Prisma tears are increased, I am actually getting less because I am dying and not getting credit.

I think the Ladder fairies are way too OP. I would ask you to please revert back to their original state. They were fun but challenging!

I expressed concern during test because the original fairies were hard enough to do when you first added them but after a few said they were too easy you increased the difficulty.

Today I did the ladder for the first time after the update and my 95 fury warrior died repeatedly, even while using Phoenix strike, slamming hp and mana potions, and buffed to the max! We had no healer and no tank which is often the case in the Event Zones.

This will be my last unless there is a healer and tank but that's kinda hard on US1 at this time.

I'm sorry that the changes cost you a lot of consumables, but the bolded text stood out to me. Without a healer and a tank, how can an elder boss be defeated? Both of those roles seem critical to have

I am not happy with what u did with Prisma and the ladder bosses improving the number of tears is fine. I used to be able to tank Prisma but now I can’t because of the thorns u devs put in place! Also the rain of destruction with Prisma has made a lot of the people on US3 VERY UNHAPPY!

We did ladder today as well and we had tank and healers but not level capped players (highest was 83 or so) and whole group about 25 ppl died at second boss ... they made it not possible to complete for low level players even if before we could and find level capped player who will help is almost impossible because once they have completed their run. they dont care anymore ...

because you dont always (hardly ever) get a healer or tank in the event zone, even less frequent both, so the event zone should be doable without at least either one of them

The quote I referenced stated that they did not have a either a healer or tank though. So it was just a team of DPS players attempting to tackle an Elder. That, along with the lethal strikes bug seems like a recipe for disaster. I'm all for evaluating and adjusting bosses based on their performance in live, but I don't think it's fair for a team without healers or tanks to make an assessment regarding whether an Elder is too difficult or not.

Once Lethal Strikes is fixed it will be easier to judge their state. But teams without a healer or a tank will always have a much harder time. Perhaps servers with low healer and tank populations can schedule some daily ladder runs, so that it is easier for teams of mixed roles to work together.

I can see if it was the actual ELDERS but not Event Zone!

The ladder bosses are Elders though

but not Maplecrest gameprogression elders, they are event zone elders. Their use is different than 'real' elders

My understanding is that an Elder boss is just like any other boss except it has a greater amount of health and damage. While bounties and venerable boss do not require a team to defeat, Elder bosses pose a larger threat and do require different roles and classes to come together in cooperation. I am unaware of any distinction between an event zone Elder, a Raid Elder or a storyline Elder. They are all categorized as challenging Elders within the journal. If the developer's intention is for a team that does not have a healer or does not have a tank to defeat the ladder, then the bosses should be dropped a tier down into Venerable bosses. Those are the blue colored ones that do not have nearly as much health or damage. I do not think that is what the developers want from the Ladder though, but I could very well be wrong.

Someone was asking in guild chat but Im
Curious does elder bane and the armor one help you with ladder “elders”. Just asking if they are elders then I’m guessing those things would help.

Also to the comment about tanks and healers! This is why I feel like they need to give the other servers some serious love when it comes to default. It’s hurting you guys to not have an active base of new players coming in.Though our capped or close to cappped tanks and healers are few (Lots of dps) we normally have someone or multiple someone’s who will do it. And having two lower lvl tanks/healers is better then none.

It seems to me that this is the crux of the matter - for some, the elders in the event zone should be roughly equivalent of the elders of the Heroes Journey, which means they should present a serious challenge and require a well balanced team.

For others they are just powerful, rare and special bounties which drop event rewards (or currency at least) and which should be fun to play against, but which means also they should be able to be defeated by a more haphazard group of players who happen to be online, not busy and not having done the ladder after the last prisma. .

The two different viewpoints are incompatible.

Yes, thank you for the clarity.

Event zone bosses should be tough but doable by whatever class is there. The problem of not being able to do the ladder on US1 when there are no tanks or healers around is more commonplace than on your US3 server.

We have a smaller community and most of the former tanks are now fury and most of the healers went shadow. We just do not have the available numbers like other servers and for that I don't think the players should be punished.

please consider fixing ladder the fairy bosses way to OP, these are worse then lv. 95s, my fury can't live though prisma or ladder even with priests. I am doubting my 95 hunter could either, but its going be impossible on my 56 priest from what I have experienced and the deaths witness, last night I started counting the deaths on prisma including my own 20 plus of various levels from lv. 1 to 95s, i believe i was only 95 toon to die due to not a tank on bulla who pure fury warrior, but this ez is no longer fun, its more of lets watch who dies so we can laugh at them instead.

If zones or elders are set to not need healers there is really no point to have a healer to role play in the game. Everyone could just play to tank. That's ok but if class is capable of doing everything all the time why have any class distinction?

Majenta I think you hit a nail on the head here! But not they are necessarily incompatible and more that these groups should be interested in different activities.

There are several activities in the Vale and ways to get tears.
If you fall into the 2nd category and just want rewards and to solo. Congratulations there are 3 dailies and bounties you can kill every 16 hours that do just that.

Prisma and the Ladder are meant to be GROUP Content and seemingly large group content at that. Which puts them more in the 1st category. The enjoyment is in working with a group of people to accomplish something. Tank, Healer, Support, DPS should all be needed in order to do Group content successfully. What is the point of having different classes with different skill sets if they never matter?

@IrishElf if your server has so many warriors and priests, if they were interested in teamwork, surely some of them could switch up their talent points since this event gives them a way to do that for free.

The event zone is side content and extra. It is great the Devs give us these opportunities.
This game is incredibly versatile and catering to a large crowd. There is something in it that everyone enjoys, you do not have to enjoy everything, or agree with everything. If you don't like things that are challenging then don't do them, don't try to get them nerfed for the people who do enjoy a challenge.
If you are complaining that the ladder and Prisma are too hard because you just want the rewards then buy tears from the store.

I don’t know where to post. There are so many threads and so many posts on this topic.

I ran in raiding guilds in Everquest. I managed a raiding guild in WoW.

I love this game, but this game is not those games. I love that this community is not like the community in other games. I don’t expect the game to require the level of strategy that we had to have to defeat bosses in those other games. Those games were definitely fun and definitely challenging - but we had to put serious work and effort and energy into building a different strategy for each and every single boss in order to continue our progression.

Maybe there is a place for that in V&H. A place where everyone in the group has to have an understanding that the tank, and only the tank pulls. That the tank needs time to build threat. Where a tank has a designated healer or two. Where ranged stay far away. Where melee run in and out of the AOEs if needed. Where people don’t stand on lava if they don’t want to die. Where there’s a designated AOE healer for the ranged, or a healer assigned to each DPS group. Maybe there is a place for that in V&H. Maybe it’s in the new tower raid thing the Otters have built. Maybe it‘s in 95 elders (I promise, my speed in leveling has increased, I’ll be there in another year or two).

But it seems clear to me from all that I’ve seen in the back and forth on the various threads that most folks don’t want to have that level of strategy on event bosses.

Personally, I find the possibility of dying to be a thrilling change. I like not having guaranteed success by just showing up and mashing buttons. But I care more about how the community feels than whether or not I feed my adrenaline rush. I had my time in Everquest and WoW. I know where that path leads for me. I retired from that path 8 years ago to raise a family.

As a community though, we have to ask ourselves - is it really a bad thing to design events around needing tanks and heals? Are those critical roles? Why even have different classes if they don’t each add something different to the game? Is it a bad thing to say that success requires a tank, a healer, and enough DPS to finish the fight before everyone runs out of mana and dies? Why is that bad? And if no fights need a tank or need a healer, then why am I playing a healer?

Regardless of how everyone answers those questions, I’m not quitting. I’m not going away. I live in world chat. It’s my old friend.
