Hi, Everyone,

It’s nearing time to say your goodbyes to the Haunted Moors! This is your one week advance notice that the event zone will be leaving on:

Tuesday, December 6th

That is our target date. However, please be aware that given various other factors, it’s possible that it could be later than that. But we can promise that the Haunted Moors will not leave before the 6th.

So please plan accordingly, and enjoy this final week of the Halloween event zone! :)

I never thought I'd say this about (what used to be) my favorite event zone, but good riddance. My village has lost 40% of its population since the new Haunted Moors made its debut. In nearly 2-1/2 years, I've never seen this happen during an event zone. To the contrary, the village population (if not already maxed) has grown during event zones, then declined slightly when the events end. Between the changes to the Moors & those ugly vaults, I'm not all that surprised that so many newer players gave up on the game. Frankly, if I weren't the mayor of my village, I would have quit too. Maybe things will get better once Druda hits the bricks, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

So I’m just gonna say the event zone might be part of the reason. But there are other reasons that are more likely. Like the fact it’s the holiday season. You have people working more, traveling more and getting prepared for the holidays. so people don’t have a lot of time to play. Then you add the fact that there are guilds recruiting players so your probably loosing some to that too. You add that all together you're probably gonna have people go mia. Then if you had multiple 95 or close to they prob have alts and they’re not getting on the alts in that village. There are alot of reasons for low village numbers. But the Halloween event is not the most likely culprit.

The population in our village went up during Moors by quite a bit. Slacked off a bit in the last week but is still up over where it was at the start of the event. In the year I've been playing, this is the only event I've actually run in more than once.

If ppl quit bc the vault color I don’t think they were gonna stick with the game period…

I only got 5k candy this event (although on 2 toons). I think I would’ve had to grind totem to get to the 10k and I just didn’t like it. I wanted to, but it needs a lot of tweaks. It was too long by a lot.

I've had one or more toons in the same village for nearly 2-1/2 years, so I'm familiar with how a village's population will wax & wane depending on various factors. What I have never seen is a population loss of 24 players within about a 7-week period of time, especially during an event, when population tends to increase. Players were busy with real life & guilds were recruiting during last year's Moors too, yet this village's population grew until it was full. This year, we started with a full "city": we began to lose players in earnest about 2-1/2 to 3 weeks after Moors & the ugly vaults appeared, and now we're a "village" of 36, with some of us having multiple toons in the village.

I realize that a lot of players like the new Moors, but for some of us, it's been about as much fun as washing dishes. In the old Moors, lots of players hung around the EZ because of the different spawn times for Tree & friends and Dream & friends. There were usually enough players around to help new players or low-level alts, and the content was pretty straight-forward & easy to understand. Now, once the dailies & Horde have been done, there's no reason to hang around in between Druda runs, so there are fewer players available to help those in need. I really struggled to complete the main quest with my level-19 alt for this very reason. As for the Horde, there often isn't time to explain things to new players before it starts, so they tend to get killed...a lot. I don't know about the other servers, but during the Druda runs on US3, the players with premium mount speed never waited for slower players before they'd attack the next boss, making it difficult for those on foot to keep up.

So, when the only significant difference between last year's Moors, when the village grew, and this year's Moors, when the village lost 40% of its population, is the event itself, I think it probably is the culprit. Well, I suppose it could be the ugly vaults.

I get the frustration for this event and clearly your dislike to the changes. And yes the vault is not pretty. I simply don’t play events. They’re not fun to me period. But for those to be the reasons seriously means they weren’t going to stay. Also Iv been playing this game for 5+ years. A recruiting guild can get 10 people and 2 will stay unless they recruit players in the upper lvls. Iv noticed our population decreasing. But it’s most likely due to the horrid bugs we had for like a month. Shoot i just came back to play and I almost stopped because of them. The devs few months back maybe less gave everyone an extra char slot. So there’s random alts floating around as well.
But if you feel strongly it is the event so be it. I can’t change your mind.
