Ho ho ho! Grinchta is back... and apparently he isn't the only bad guy this year?
Table of content:
Introduction
There's many, many things to do in this Event Zone. 14 daily quests, 12 bosses, a lot of X-mas themed hats to collect...
It's the only one of the five Event Zones that has a double currency: Yuletide Joy
and Yuletide Spirit
. While you can get Yuletide Spirit
by doing quests and killing bosses, Yuletide Joy
can only be obtained through quests.
It's also the only Event Zone with a Vault and with Crafted Stations really close to each others. The only thing missing there is a well; so if you plan to host a CE there, or just to do some cooking, don't forget to grab some water before!
Quests
Most quest givers can be found in the south-east corner of the map, close to the telepad.
3 quests givers can be found inside the hideout.
Non repeatable quests -- Total: 525
, 525
Repeatable quests (16h cooldown) -- Total: 80
, 65
, 1
, 1
Bosses
Rewards (2h cooldown) -- Total: 13
, 6
, 5
, 1 Grinchta's Santa Sack
Grinchta
The main boss of this Event Zone. To enter his place, go to the top of the hill in E5/6 and interract with the Relic Stone.
Grinchta mostly use 3 mechanics:
Buddy Plumkiss (New!)
To meet him, you have to do 15 tasks in the hideout - and since there are only 3 repeatable quests there, it takes at least 5 EZ days to unlock him.
Note that even if you can't see him, you will count for his scaling! Also you won't get credit, and you can still be killed. So if you don't see him yet, it's better if you simply don't go there!
Observed mechanics:
Grinchta's Lieutenants
The 4 Lieutenants of Grinchta stands in the snow, waiting to be challenged. Each of them has a few AOEs, so ranged players should keep their distance.
- Jingle Ding is one of the deadliest boss in all EZs. This powerful Ice wizard can OneShot most players around him with a single Bitter Chill, and his Deep Freeze deals huge damage and stuns his target. You should not stay around him if you haven't a well-geared tankish character. Even if you are a melee player, you should hit him once and step back to a safe zone.
And never, ever pull Jingle Ding in the crowd!
- Krampus Kringle the warrior has the smallest of AOEs (about 1m around him), one of them stuns but globally Krampus isn't that dangerous.
- Sugar Plum King use the power of Fire and Shadow... and he does some damage around him... not much else to say.
- Missile Toe has 3 AOEs, but this time 2 of them are ranged and centered on the tank. So again, if you are a bit squishy, don't stay around him (nor around the tank).
One of his ranged AOE is a stun, it can be dangerous when he combine it with another attack.
Hideout Bounties (New!)
Each of them is surrounded by 3 Jingle Goons who will help them in combat. Also, they wear a random affix (the Lighning Shield is really, really annoying)
While they are easier to kill than Grinchta's Lieutenants, they however copy their mechanics. Jolly Frost uses Missile Toe's attacks; Cookie Muffinball acts like Sugar Plum King; and the 4 others seems to copy Krampus Kringle's skills.
The Plumkiss Hideout
The new addition of this year, with 3 daily quests and 6 venerable bounties inside.
To enter the hideout, you first have to do a quest in F6, starting with a certain Buddy Plumkiss. When you are asked to find the entrance, head to a very secret location (Spoiler: B4/5, behind Sugar Plum King) then bomb the door. Once inside, you are told that Buddy Plumkiss isn't there yet, and you will have to work to make him come back...
To meet Buddy Plumkiss, you have to do 15 repeatable tasks inside of the hideout. But since there are only 3 daily quests there, it will take several days to do them.
One of the quests asks you to kill 10 Goons; the 2 others want you to craft 5 items each. For the crafting quests, there is a NPC next to the quest giver that will teach you the recipes. Each quest rewards 5
and 5
.
Each of the 6 venerable bounties is surrounded by 3 Jingle Goons. They are social mobs: attacking one will aggro the whole group. Bounties have a random affix, and they can hurt a lot; most players cannot solo them.
While their rewards have a 2h cooldown, these bounties respawns only a few minutes after their death. They are usually killed at the end of a Grinchta run.
When you are done with the 15 tasks, you can see and fight Buddy Plumkiss, and you unlock the timed quest Christmas Bash.

Grinchta
The main boss of this Event Zone. To enter his place, go to the top of the hill in E5/6 and interract with the Relic Stone.
Grinchta mostly use 3 mechanics:
Health threshold | Description |
---|---|
89% then every minute after 24% 9% | Grinchta casts Deck the Heroes - Removes 35% of the current health of everyone in the room, then reduces their healing received by 10% for 10s. |
74% then every minute after 24% | Grinchta summons 4 Guardians. Theses adds can mess with Grinchta's aggro table, he has a chance to attack their target. You should kill them ASAP. |
49% then every 45s after 24% | Colorful lights appears on the floor. They buff/debuff you, depending on the color you stand on. Red hurts; Yellow slows your attack speed; Green heals you; Blue regens your mana. |
Summons
| Buddy Plumkiss summons clones of himself. They are ranged, are able to cast spells, and should be killed asap. The clones wear green clothes while the real Plumkiss is in red with a white hood. |
Ice Rune
| A moving 'shattered ice' rune appears on the floor. It deals heavy damage and apply Freezing Ground Slow: slows your movement speed by 20% for 10s. I saw only 1 pattern yet: the rune starts at Plumkiss throne, moves in a counter-clockwise circle around the room, then goes back and forth in the 'main alley' before vanishing as it reaches the throne again. |
Frost Nova | Small AOE around him, deals Ice damage and stuns for 7s. |
Ice Storm | AOE, deals Ice damage |
Ice Javelin | Single target, deals Ice damage. |
Hoarfrost | Single target, deals Ice damage. |
Magic Missile | Single target, deals Fire damage. |

When you are done with the 15 tasks, you can see and fight Buddy Plumkiss, and you unlock the timed quest Christmas Bash.
This quest is similar to the lvl 95 Elder quests.
It's a timed quest, with tiered rewards depending on how fast you complete it.
At the opposite of the 95s, you actually have to hit each mob (or be in group with the person who kill them) in order to progress. Since the Jingle Goons are squishy, being in a group is highly recommanded.
Note that this quest has a cooldown of 32h.
Note that at 'No extra rewards', if you let the timer run out, the quest fails and you die!

Carol Songbooks
When you kill a boss, or do some quests, you get one of those two songbooks: Festive Carol Songbook

If you collect enough pages of the same song, you can turn them into Christmas-themed hats, boots, or (one) shield.
Festive Carol Songbook
Quest: Runaway Joy
Bosses: Buddy Plumkiss, Krampus Kringle, Sugar Plum King, Bling Cocoby, Merry Twinklepop, Moonch
Jolly Carol Songbook
Quest: Christmas Memories
Bosses: Jingle Ding, Missile Toe, Cookie Muffinball, Doghnut, Jolly Frost
The Blue Fungi Mount
This mount can't be found directly at vendors - to create it, you need to combine 1 Winter Wonder Mushroom with 100 Bottled Winter. Both items can be found in the Miscellaneous tab of vendors; Oake sells the Winter Wonder Mushroom while Maple sells Bottled Winter.
Also, you have a chance to find Bottled Winter in Grinchta's Santa Sack, so if you fight him often, you can reduce the cost of that part!
Shop Lists
The two vendors are located south of the telepad. Oake will sell his goodies for

Aww, thanks all!
I added some info on Buddy Plumkiss and the quest Christmas Bash.
...I'm not sure if I should update the shop list to include Plumkiss in the calculation. Most players can't access him (yet), his fight is a bit long, and his regular reward is only 1
+ 1
... I don't know if it's worth to count him.
