Hello, Everyone,
As many of you might be aware, especially those who play on US1, there is currently a gold exploit in the game.
The absurd amounts of gold being pumped onto the server have caused prices in the Auction House to skyrocket. This drastic inflation is extremely damaging to the health and economy of the game.
We have been doing mass removals of ill-gotten gold, and will continue to do so.
This forum post is to officially let you know that between now and the time we implement a permanent fix for the exploit, all ill-gotten gold will be removed regularly. So if you wake up one morning, and all of your gold is gone, now you know why.
Please be aware of the following:
If you enjoy this game, and would prefer not to see it damaged, then please do not profit from those who are exploiting it.
Players who repeatedly have ill-gotten gold taken by us, will face temporary to permanent bans.
And once again, just to make this point extremely clear, we will be removing all ill-gotten gold until the fixes have been implemented.
Thanks, Everyone.

It saddens me that this has to be done. I understand that it has to be done, but it saddens me that people think that they can get away with this sort of behavior.
It also angers me. Devs have to spend a lot of time trying to figure this out, when they COULD be spending that time making the game better for all of us. Good luck Otters!!

Its very sad that a group of people want to harm a community and a server. Punishment needs to happen which is sad and ive seen far more happen to people in other games. Ive seen a game company sue the hackers before, that put game currency in a game illegally and botting. The otters are allot nicer fyi.
Sad time and resources was spent on this instead of the quality of life .
Thank you Devs!!

Could you please explain “exorbitant” amounts? Say I have a friend who needs gold and I send them 2000g, is that exorbitant or ill-gotten? Can we send gold from one toon to an alt toon? I am thinking that this may be a case of very high amounts of gold sent, but what do we have to watch out for? If I buy a legendary weapon on ah for 3000g, is that ok? Or if i sell one that is in demand for that amount And it’s purchased? What about crown-item sellers? Most sell crown items for cost. Could you please give some examples of how this is getting abused? Thank you

That's why the auction must function as such, no purchase is mandatory, however exorbitant it may be.
Questions like this only reinforce the idea that the solution approach is erroneous.

Yea this was one of the things I thought of.Could you please explain “exorbitant” amounts? Say I have a friend who needs gold and I send them 2000g, is that exorbitant or ill-gotten? also will they take all gold or just the exploited gold.?
I don’t play on this server often so I don’t know all that’s happening but these were just random questions I had while reading it.

An "exorbitant" amount, for example, would be 100k gold in a single transaction.
Yesterday, off of one player, I removed over 800k gold they'd received in a single day.

I'm so sorry you have to waste your time chasing down cheaters and hackers, but thanks for all your hard work to protect our game and community.

Right now, we have two priorities: to remove the false gold off of US1, and to fix the exploit. Until we fix the exploit, any gold we remove is non-negotiable.
Once the exploit has been fixed, and the economy on US1 is once again stable, then those of you who truly feel that hard earned gold was unjustly taken from you, then you may submit a CS ticket, and we will review every single gold transaction that you've done in the past two months and go from there.
But until then, the removal of gold is non-negotiable.

Thank you. I kind of figured it was really high amounts, but just needed clarification so us “little guys” didn’t have our transaction gold taken. Much appreciated! An "exorbitant" amount, for example, would be 100k gold in a single transaction.

Tyvm Sarah! Would be good to attach up above what is a big amount, so people would know faster and be aware about it. And tyvm again, this was killing us.

If my catapult is delayed/canceled give me names!!!!!! Lol jk..
it isnt a fixed amount of course from where on it is illegal, it is more of an indicationTyvm Sarah! Would be good to attach up above what is a big amount, so people would know faster and be aware about it. And tyvm again, this was killing us.
Right- we can't post an exact amount, because then the gold exploiters would know exactly how much to send without catching our attention.it isnt a fixed amount of course from where on it is illegal, it is more of an indication
If you're doing normal activities, then you have nothing to worry about.

Please developer, don't delete my comment again, it's important and relevant to the community.
Unfortunately, I know the people who did it very well.
We (me and some friends) denounced this act almost 1 month ago and it was not given due attention.
Now, this act has damaged everyone's natural game, and there are many innocent people yes. Even if the prices are exorbitant, it's still an auction, and it should work as such. Punishing innocent people to ZERO gold, without even having enough gold for a simple trip, I see as a flawed justice.
As already said, there are innocent people, generalizing to everyone who bought and resold something at the auction without a conscience, is the same as arguing that everyone who participates in a war is guilty.
I suggest rethinking and formulating a better solution, as it is a lack of respect not only with those affected, but with the community in general.

The worst action the mods could have taken is to remove the gold, but banning players is excessive, there are level 1 players with more than 5k and they did nothing just to keep them playing, they did not give a warning like other times and they did a sanction in front of them, what logic do they have? In the case of the auction would have been better to disable it at the beginning if they knew this was happening not wait for the great part was selling and earning gold that way to just act and spoil the game, they were just waiting for several to buy and sell to generate some absurd sanctions if the mods leave much to be desired with this action.
