But personally, I see the inherent value in the diminishing returns system, am very comfortable with math, and cherish the complexity it brings. I understand that isn't for everyone.
Diminishing isn't a problem on its own.
Percentages with diminishing will mean that for the same piece of gear, you will have infinitely many possible displays depending on what else you are wearing, making it nearly impossible to tell what it is actually worth without doing more math, which was what the new stat system was aimed at preventing.
Ergo, you can't really have the new system without also removing diminishing returns. The old system worked fine because you could tell what the raw numbers were, it was only the percentage effect that changed, making it possible to compare gear while not on level.

Yup - we agree to agree. As Kave mentioned, the poll isn't a fair poll because we are all familiar with the old system and it worked the way it was supposed to work, while the new system hasn't been integrated 100%, and things like diminishing returns are still in play but not compatible with the new system. It (the new system) would need to be fully integrated in order to make the poll meaningful (imho).
I just prefer diminishing returns and would rather not bother with the heartaches of integrating a new system.
Right now, I am so confused I truly don't know which system is best... I'll let the math wizzes vote.
Yes. I’ll go with whatever system Math Fish tells me works.

I actually don't really look at the Stats, I have played to many games where the stats require a lot of study and other that don't, V&H is in the middle so either system works for me.

I want to see what the max is when crafting each rune. Also, I would like to see how much of what glyph I have and to see how much more I need to max it.

I would rather have plain numbers than %.
Everywhere.
❤

I have not voted, and will not, until I understand what the numbers really mean. At the moment with them being % of % of % (I assume this, as I do not have a clue), I uderstand nothing.

It is nice that the issue has been put to a vote.
Only, why do you call the first choice for a vote "The New Tool-Tips for Stats that show the actual values"?
Because they do not show the actual values, that is the whole reason we are talking about it.
I don't mean to be rude but this seems manipulative and misleading, causing some people that are not invested enough in the matter
to read everything that has been said, to maybe vote on the fly, seeing "actual values" as opposed to "Pool Values", (and here
those who may not exactly know what "Pool Values" are), will just chose the first, because it has true words in it, like:
"actual values".
Anyway, I hope reason prevails.

I think it is not even a comparison right now, because the old one show both the actual stat and the pool value, which will fit more player and more condition. While the current one only have the "real value" with no easy way to tell if the value is even correctly what we will get.

I don't understand gear well, so I like the *idea* of seeing the actual effect, but being unable to see the actual effect for any level but your own negates most of the benefit and makes it worse by a mile. I'm so confused by this, I don't even know how other people are going to manage to make me my gear now. ;p

I think the new system's biggest weakness is that you can't plan ahead anymore, because you can't see what a piece of gear's stats actually mean before you put it on. Maybe no big deal if you're crafting your own at-level gear, but buying (pricey) gear to grow into? Hoo boy.
Another weakness, which won't matter as much for some, is the precision lost. Values like 4003 and 3976 tell you immediately which stat is higher. Two 3.5% values do not, even if one is actually better.
I personally dislike the display of decimal points and percentages; I find it messy and distracting. More decimal points would help with comparing gear at the same level, but would make the display messier and would not solve the problem of comparing gear of different levels. So I wouldn't want just another decimal point tacked on.
The new names seem more utilitarian but the old ones were more artistic. I could live with either.
I'd like to go back to the pool values. I don't consider the new values to be "actual" values with all their switcheroos. Thank you devs for taking the time to ask and listen!

But doesn't this only happen when you have the stat at near cap? Before that you just get the full value of the armour so you get what you see

It happens with the second piece of gear you equip with that stat. I just checked.
