Atm one can exchange lower value medals for higher value ones. for ex. 5 obsidian medals can be exchanged for 1 malachite medal in the appropriate medal merchant . But you cannot do the reverse even at a worse exchange rate. Like for ex. 1 malachite medal to be exchanged for 2 or 3 obsidian medals. That means that if for ex. I need more obsidian medals to obtain another key I must keep fighting lower zone bounties which is very slow and without rewards process and makes me want to drop everything and quit the game . So pls consider adding the downgrade option for medals . The same merchants that upgrade medals could be used for the downgrade process.

Or a better idea, is to drop medallions altogether and have a much more enjoyable game...if only.Atm one can exchange lower value medals for higher value ones. for ex. 5 obsidian medals can be exchanged for 1 malachite medal in the appropriate medal merchant . At this point I wonder if that couldn't be done at least for the traven and pyrron zones. Their key value (med per key) has dropped so far by now that you get delayed maybe 5 days both zones, only because you have to wait for boss resets. Less days I'd you rebirth smart, if you are an active zone runner. It is more a nuisance now than anything else.Or a better idea, is to drop medallions altogether and have a much more enjoyable game...if only.
So funny, we had to collect wayyyy more than you all have to do now. The requirements have been reduced at least 2 times.
Right, I walked around the zones for about 1 week or more to collect the medallions. So funny, we had to collect wayyyy more than you all have to do now. The requirements have been reduced at least 2 times.
And that with a medallion potion

That being the case should truly show, that blocking progressions through level locks and medallions, isn't what players want to come across in games. So funny, we had to collect wayyyy more than you all have to do now. The requirements have been reduced at least 2 times.
When I started playing Traven was "end game" hence the very large numbers of medallions needed at the time.
When Pyrron was added, it became end game - and again large numbers of medallions were needed, precisely BECAUSE it was end game.
The point is players will always want "free" progression (ie no blocks to progression) but developers need time to write new content.

Clearly. And at the time the blocks were finez, as the block in bight now is fine. But the blocks in traven en Pyrrhon are no longer needed. Their delay is minimal if any, and they are more of a nuisance now. The coille copse two step is a harder block on its own (although also double annoying). But now there is no specific reason there should be a block on traven still but not on any of the other zones, so perhaps time to remove it, now that content development delay time is no longer dependent on that areaWhen I started playing Traven was "end game" hence the very large numbers of medallions needed at the time.

But we did it because it was part of the game. That being the case should truly show, that blocking progressions through level locks and medallions, isn't what players want to come across in games.
Yes, we knew it was there to slow us down, yes they reduced it later on by a huge amount, but it was part of the game so we just did it.
Another thing is that in gathering the medallions we get more xp, more gold, more experience. I know some people want to plow through, cap and move on to the next game. But the rest of us this is not just "win and move on", so doing what it takes it a part of playing the game.
If they are made downgradable, 1 to 1 would be fair.
I've run a few alts through, pyrron even after the reduction of medallions and it make the progression odd. Eg. the pyrron zones have a couple of paired zones Bastion /Ramparts, Staging Chambers /Armory. You end up with one zone open, but not the other. You grind your new zone with the next tier of medallion, as well as grind for medallions to open the paired zone. This is where the downgrade might be useful.
They probably could be removed, or looked into if buying both keys for paired zones at the same time makes sense.
I think they should mostly be removed - players encounter time-gating and other forms of locks from level 75 up. Maybe keep the last tier to open Future for traven meds, and Lord Pyrrus for pyrron meds.

Another option is to increase the price for the master key slightly, and have all pyrron zones give the top tier meds. And when I say slightly, I don't mean to 5000!!! That way you can progress just fine, but you can put in an extra run here and there to get rid of all the key....If they are made downgradable, 1 to 1 would be fair.

Hindsight, you won't have keys to get a master key for if you don't have meds. Ignore me

I was thinking if they were kept in some form, one of the final quests could still ask for some number of meds, but then again on 2nd though, those main quests already send you running all over, I'm not sure the addition of a med grind is a fun challenge.
