from thread “my reliquary and what it took to fill it” my last seasons raid resultsI realise this comes of a little braggy so I want to say for the record that none of this means I’m better than any other players or that I have somehow figured out some amazing build that is superior to all, my build is no better than anyone else’s and I’m by far not a super amazing player.
What I am is tenacious I push hard and I keep going even when stuff gets hard in the end I normally get rewarded for it that’s all this is, I believe anyone can achieve the same results if they put enough effort into doing so.
The only game I can think of offhand that has an enraged mechanic is Elyon - and look what happened to that.Antavious, I believe that the sole reason that you can solo all these hard content is that you are playing the most defensive class that can also heal itself constantly as long as it has enough mana. A good ol' nerf to how often we can use consumables would fix all the boring content for you. Ah and maybe an enrage timer for bosses that will make them go mad if you take too long to kill them. It happens in a lot of games.
Jokes aside, I really enjoy testing my own limits, trying out new builds and new ways to do content. Sadly, there is a lack of hard content to do this in V&H, mostly because raids go on a break for 2-3 months and we are left with only level 95 elders and rift. I would enjoy some content that we can repeat and that we have an incentive to repeat. Raid is currently the only content that provides this.
I don't think that events should be where this is problem is addressed. Events are for casual fun and cosmetics, and usually a decent introduction to group content for new players. I think events have a huge impact on player retention for new players because they can join other players even on their first day and get a more comprehensive feeling of the game.

Maybe raids are a good way to change the mechanic of this that people want. Maybe on raids you can select two different paths that level independently. You can do the regular path, or the "Path of Brutality" (trademark pending). Simply by checking a box, you can do the entire season on Brutal mode. The only difference in the end would be cosmetic however, because people throw fits about advantages and whatnot. So lets say the new raid the jumping spider / warg or whatever are green, then maybe the brutal version of the mounts is a more silver green or something. I dunno. But simply a re-color that gives you something cool for your hard work. I can feel the hate on this post in 3...2...1....

I wouldnt mind if it could give a nice comestic (or actually useful weapon). Like a legendary weapon, shield or an enchantment.

The answer is simple but the solution may never appear. For those few (and perhaps increasing) players that want very challenging content then the devs could create an instanced solo task zone (something akin to raids) where a player is given a fixed task to do. If they complete it successfully then the next time they try it the difficulty is increased a little and this happens after it is completed each time. For each completion, the reward improves a little to match the difficulty. Eventually, it will reach a point where it is impossible to complete but some of those who want the impossible can (and probably will) continue to try for years....
The reason why such an addition may never appear is that only a minority want it. In games, the majority is what counts as all games have limited dev resources so what the majority want is what appears.

The simple answer is to create an entirely new zone? And code entirely new content that isn’t elsewhere in the game? I guess we have different definitions of simple…
an endless tower would be nice, but the villaging side is much more due an upgrade than the hero side, I’m cool waiting my turn

If i wanted hard content, i would play one of my other games (Mass Effect, Skyrim, Tomb Raider).
I am happy with the relaxed content of this game (mostly
)
being a small development team they need to focus on what will bring in the $$$. Without that there is no game.

I agree, no need for harder content. There are enough games out there if one needs more challenging fights. If i wanted hard content, i would play one of my other games (Mass Effect, Skyrim, Tomb Raider).

This game is awesome as it is and I'm thankful for the hard work the small team puts in night and day fighting bugs and doing everything to give us raids and event zones.
No need to throw more demands at them.

I think the happy ones are just more quiet. Disagreeing with posts like these usually gets you verbally slapped. That's why people don't like to post.
I was on US1 yesterday and the chat was all about the excitement over Raids. So no, you are not alone, not by a long shot!

I wasn't talking about raids, I was talking about the laid back non-hardcore content lol

Well any post that says “go play other games instead” isn’t very helpful to improving V&H now is it? Better games make more money so maybe we keep trying? how about that. Like it or not people are diverse/different so it’s good to ask for more diverse stuff and even better a to consider a way to implement it without alienating others.

A game isn't necessarily made better by adding harder content, especially if most of the player base is happy with the existing difficulty. And if a handful of people are bored because the game isn't challenging enough for them, it is better to move on to other games and come back when they are burned out to relax here again.
Complaining about it and instantly putting down new content as soon as it is implemented is not improving anything.
Especially since we all have seen how hard the devs have been working for months now to start the new raid season as soon as possible, at the same time getting eventzones ready and working on housing projects and reworking zones graphically, and on top of that fighting bugs and other unforseen issues. From what we can see from their forum posts they have been working crazy hours, weekends and nights.
Getting them burned out by complaining and demanding more and more will certainly not improve the game.

Imo it's not just that (although it is a big part of it ofcourse), but it is also being different. If there are already so many hard games out there (I don't really know, I avoid them like the plague) then it is not exactly a sale point doing it here too. Being a fun, relaxed, medium difficulty game is what sets the game apart, that is what will attract it's own playerbase. Those people who do not fit with the other games. Being 'not like x', or 'but X does have it' is what sets us apart.A game isn't necessarily made better by adding harder content, especially if most of the player base is happy with the existing difficulty. If we were like all other games.. just as hard, the same mechanics, etc, what is left that is gonna convince people to come here? (Yes I know the playerbase is cute, but they only find that out AFTER they came in)

Ok so how do you explain the list of “attempts” at hard content the bottom line is the devs aren’t satisfied with a casual only game (probably because it isn’t a good money maker sorry to burst your bubble) they also want feedback to understand how well they are doing (a hard thing to gauge at the best of times) so lying to them and saying everything is awesome is not productive. The key is making the game universally appealing to maximise revenue there are plenty of “casual“ games out there if you just want that (obvious but with a mono perspective you might not have realised it goes both ways)
for the record on current events I think the new raid season was rushed since there seams to be no significant improvements it should have been put off till after the new year when they might have actually had something.
