Patch Notes 4.24 - Grinchta's Lair

On iOS redemption codes:
Apple stopped our build process and would not let us push the Christmas build until this issue was resolved. Meaning there was absolutely nothing we could do about it. The reason Apple has a rule like this is to prevent greedy developers from selling keys to their players through back channels, thus cutting Apple out of their rightful share of the profits. Other gift methods are acceptable, just not specifically redeem codes. As stated, we will be adding a new system of giving at a later date.

On Motes:
Motes were one of the reason that players were bot farming gathering. They would take the motes and sell them to other players. This polluted the economy, cheapened the hard work of players who were actually playing the game, and hurt sales of Motes in the store. However we like the fact that Motes are found while gathering - it creates a nice pairing with crafting and is a premium reward for participating in all forms of gameplay, so we didn't want to outright remove them. However something had to be done against the botters and so a middle ground was to make the Motes account bound. That way those who rightfully earned the motes can use them, but the botters can no longer turn a profit.

On Zogs:
Zog Crown bags were removed for a similar reason to the Mote change, exploiters. We initially added the Zog Crown purse as a nice perk to playing the combat side of the game. We expected a little bit of player farming, though we expected it to be legitimate. What we have seen is a series of illegitimate gameplay where players were able to gather these by exploits. This created cases where cheaters were able to gain access to every premium item in the game at no cost, and were even able to trade these items out to other players in some cases. This cheapens the premium items in the game, is unfair to those that do choose to support the game, and hurts the game as a whole. For these reasons we couldn't let this activity continue and so had to make the change.

Finally, a detailed explanation. I like details. Good job stopping the botters. What's next to be soulbound /account bound -dropped keys of Darrig? Lol
Or did y'all just remove them from the drop items?

So give us a way to /report botters then. Asking us t0 fill out a customer service ticket on the website for a botter is more then most will ever bother. As is hoping to find a mod online. All these changes are being made to combat botters, but are punishing the player base instead. If you want to stop them, how about giving those of us online the tools to help? A /report function could just have a few empty fields. Such as botter name, server, zone.

Sending a report to Customer Support is what is provided to report anything, I guess I don't see where that is a problem. If you want to report a botter so they are dealt with there is a process that has been in place all along, that is what other players are using right now and it works. If you choose to not report that is your choice I guess.

• There are now Relic Stones present in all level 75 elder zones. These will take the player to the other Elder zones for free, but only after the zone has been discovered by the player naturally. This should make a level 75 Elder run much faster with less loading in between.

Without going into details, suffice it to say that because of my relationship with Apple, I know that Ivar is correct - Apple has had to make some changes because of some unscrupulous devs. (Obviously NOT our Otters!)

So, just a suggestion from me - instead of sending out Redeem Codes, what if in the future, the "gift" was put into a special "pocket" or "slot" in the Calendar? The user would have to make sure to collect the gift from the calendar of the toon that they wanted the gift item associated with. Since Apple doesn't have a problem with the Calendars in-game, that might be a way to easily and quickly distribute gifts for all platforms. It also gives everyone even more incentive to sign in daily, and check the calendar!

And speaking of the Calendar - the Christmas calendar looks *beautiful*! Bravo, Ivar!

In the "winter wonderland" quest in Grinchta's lair it mentions that "I can track progress in my bounty Journal". for example it says to kill Grinchta 15 times, but when I look in my bounty journal it says I killed Grinchta 300 times.

No that wont work, because of this:

cheaters were able to gain access to every premium item in the game at no cost, and were even able to trade these items out to other players in some cases.

Once bought crowns for real and you are a pc player over lvl 40, you can trade items. The zogs may be soulbound, but they can still get the purse and items for free after illegally obtaining those zogs. So this very exact problem would still be there.

It shows all kills you ever made, in all events, not just this one.

If you have removed crowns from turning in zogs, is it possible to give back the 10x loot of luckinium at least? since afaik, the lucks were nerfed because of epic zogs because of crowns.

Also, was there a warning about this? I feel bad for the people who honestly and patiently farmed epic zogs in preparation for this event.
